I'm not entirely sure what this means for the game so I guess we'll have to see. This is kind of confusing and interesting because from what I remember DI1 wasn't a huge game, for the most part the open areas were pretty linear. Second and sadly the only other new information I have is that the scale of the game won't be massive so, "don't expect it to be as big as DI1". Either way we're still getting a new Dead Island. Firstly, it won't be called DI2 from what I hear so it will probably have a different subtitle like riptide did. I got a few dm's asking for more info and luckily I've been able to scrape up a couple of more details about the new DI. I love the passion you guys have for these games, it gives me hope knowing a lot of smaller games these days get overshadowed way too much by the AAA space. Finally, as a kind of obvious statement, the team at THQ Nordic does have PS5 dev kits and they do in fact look like the leaks.Įdit (10/30/19): It may be already known but Dambuster Studios, the developer working on Dead Island 2, is also in the early stages of development on a TimeSplitters 4. I am in no way an expert on these things but that is what I was told. Also, the team is also apparently working on some new gore technology that utilizes "sub polygon displacement". The new information I learned from a developer on the game is that the team is looking to target a 2020 release to launch alongside the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
So Dead Island 2 is still in development by THQ Nordic (which we already knew). Hey guys, didn't really know where to go to report information like this but I feel like it needs to be put out there somehow.
